Why do people buy YouTube views?

Back to Contents

Prior to watching a YouTube video, viewers don’t have much to go off of when judging the quality of the video. There are of course the title, the thumbnail and the description, but that doesn’t account for the whole story.

View count that can often become an important factor for viewers trying to determine video quality. Since the title and thumbnail only give you a glimpse of the content, they don’t tell you how it compares to similar content. As a result, YouTube video creators have turned to paid views to help market their videos.

How buying views works

Buying views means automatically generating views for videos by either using bots or other, more authentic methods. Despite the fact that these views aren’t real, they give the impression that the video has been viewed by a significant number of real people. This ultimately raises the interest of other people who are just browsing through videos under a certain keyword or niche. Most of the time, people will gravitate to the video with the most views.

Benefits of buying views

We talked about one major benefits of buying views, which is the “social proof” generated by the inflating the view count. However, that’s not the only reason that people buy YouTube views. Higher rankings and improved credibility are two other great reasons to consider buying views. YouTube takes views into consideration when ranking videos for certain keywords, which means buying views can help you rank higher. Ranking higher obviously gives you more exposure, and that exposure becomes even more valuable since you have such a high view count.

Improving your ranking on YouTube helps garner new subscribers, and you can do this through having a consistent view count on multiple videos. For example, you’ve likely seen profiles with one viral video that might have a million or more views, but the channel only has 300 subscribers. Buying views allows you to make all of your videos appear equally popular, which makes you look consistently successful. Sprinkle on a few paid subscribers – suddenly you look like a popular YouTube star, and the organic subscribers will start to come rolling in.

Provider is key

If you decide to buy YouTube views, the most important thing you can do is order them from a high quality provider. Don’t just go for the cheapest option, as you’ll likely end up with a bunch of spam on your page or a terminated channel. Paid views have received a bad reputation simply because of all the shady vendors that prey on victims who don’t know any better. They’ll promise thousands of views for a couple dollars, but all you’ll end up with is a bunch of headaches and a couple dollars less.

So long as you do a little bit of research beforehand and read verified reviews, you should be fine. You can usually get a sense of the provider’s legitimacy from looking around their website and reading all of the information. Make sure everything they say lines up, and they aren’t contradicting themselves with various promises and guarantees. A couple of great vendors to start with are BuyViews and Devumi, who have been around for years and have had numerous satisfied customers.

Downsides of buying views

There are also a couple downsides to paying for fake views on YouTube. We mentioned account termination could result if you buy views from a low-quality vendor, this is absolutely true. YouTube doesn’t approve of people directly paying money for views, and it violates their Terms of Service. If you’re caught, and YouTube is able to verify you were the one who paid for the views, you’ll get the views removed at the very least. It could also result in the video getting removed, a strike on your account, or termination of your channel.

Buying views also comes with no engagement from the viewers whatsoever, which is not good. People will be very cautious about following someone who has a video with 100K views and 7 likes – it doesn’t appear authentic. Because of this, if you decide to buy views, you need to buy an appropriate amount of likes, dislikes, and comments to complement the views and make them seem more legitimate. This isn’t a big deal if you know what you’re doing, but it’s another thing that rookie view buyers often forget to account for.

Should you buy views?

We’ve covered the benefits and the disadvantages of buying views, so now it’s up to you to decide what is best for your situation. Buying views will not get you into trouble as long as you’re careful, but it is understandable if you don’t want to take the risk. Still, there’s no denying the value of fake views when properly utilized. If you’re looking to jumpstart your account or add some social proof to your videos, you’ll definitely want to at least consider buying some views to keep up with the competition.
