YouTube Fundraisers Announced: Help Non-Profits Raise Money, and Promote your YouTube Channel

Back to Contents

YouTube is changing the way people support their favorite charities. As the world’s most popular online video-sharing site, they continue to provide innovations that bring communities together. The network has recently announced new features designed to help creators and fans support and donate to causes they care about.

YouTube Giving comes with four amazing features, namely (1) Fundraisers, (2) Community Fundraisers, (3) Campaign Matching, and (4) Super Chat for Good. These tools are now available to selected YouTube creators and nonprofits. The site is expected to roll out access to these tools to more creators in the next few weeks, so read on and get ready!

YouTube Fundraisers

YouTube Fundraisers make it easier to create and embed a fundraising campaign on your videos and livestreams. With this feature, your fans and viewers can conveniently donate to your campaign directly from your video using the “donate” button.

The best thing about this is you don’t need to worry about the logistics of creating a fundraiser. YouTube will handle it for you. Additionally, they will take care of all transaction fees so that the nonprofit receives 100% of all donations. All that’s left for you to do is to set up your campaign and create amazing videos for it.

Ready to try this out? Here’s Hope for Paws’ fundraiser to give you some inspiration.

YouTube’s new Community Fundraisers

Community Fundraisers let you team up with qualifying nonprofits and fellow YouTube creators to co-host a fundraiser. Through this type of collaboration, participants are able to combine their resources to raise awareness, promote the campaign, and get more people to support it.

You and your collaborators will have a community fundraiser appear on your videos at the same time to show how much your collective effort is earning for your charity.  St. Jude PLAY LIVE is a perfect example of how you can make the most of this feature.

12 gaming creators and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital teamed up for this community fundraiser. It will run for a month and with over 37 millions subscribers collectively, they are bound to hit — and maybe exceed — their goal.

Campaign Matching

Scheduled to be released soon, Campaign Matching allows you to accept matching pledges from other YouTube creators and organizations. It’s a great way to multiply your efforts for your YouTube fundraisers.

The pledges that you will receive will be displayed directly on your fundraiser. It could help encourage fans and other brands to support your cause. Additionally, it’s an opportunity to improve your credibility on the network. When viewers see that other brands and creators are supporting you, they are also more likely to support you.

Using YouTube’s Super Chat for Good

If you haven’t heard of it, Super Chat is a livestream feature that allows viewers to highlight and pin their messages or comments on the stream. It’s another way for creators to generate money on the network while connecting with their audience better. Super Chat for Good is a variation of the feature. Instead of generating revenue, however, all purchases go directly to your chosen nonprofit.

YouTube understands how your videos have the power to change lives. YouTube Giving enhances that power by providing you with tools that don’t just make it more convenient for you to continue supporting your favorite charities. They also make it easier to share your YouTube fundraisers with your audience and other creators.

Available in beta testing

YouTube Fundraisers and Community Fundraisers are available in beta right now. They are expected to be accessible to more creators and eligible nonprofits in the coming weeks. Super Chat for Good is available on livestreaming content and premiere videos for eligible creators and qualifying nonprofits.

Don’t have access to YouTube Giving, yet? Why not take this time to improve your views and subscribers on the network? Videos with a good number of views, and channels with many subscribers, can easily attract more people who would want to support your YouTube fundraisers and build your channel overall.
